We took part in the Start-up Awards competition held as part of the XXVII International forum on information and communication technologies «TIBO-2021» from June 1 to June 4, 2021 in Minsk
After a year's break due to the pandemic, the International specialized exhibition "TIBO-2021", which took place from June 1 to June 4, 2021, returned to Minsk. Despite the still existing restrictions, the exhibition presented scientific and technical developments and products of research organizations and enterprises of the Republic of Belarus and foreign countries in the field of information technology and communications.
Traditionally, the Belarusian national technical university (BNTU), which is considered one of the leading universities in the country in the field of robotics, took part in the exhibition. The exposition presented samples of robots created by employees and students of the Faculty of information technology and robotics (FITR). Of particular interest were robots using a Raspberry Pi minicomputer, as well as assemblies and parts made using 3-D printing.
The Brest State Technical University (BrSTU) does not lag behind BNTU, which presented at the exhibition robots with a Pick and Place system (provides high speed when solving pick-and-place tasks, for example, for a line with a belt conveyor) and URG type (collaborative, high-tech robotic arm).
The interest of our employees was aroused by the project "Gesturebot", which has a high intuitiveness of control and was developed on the Arduino platform, the movement of which is controlled using hand gestures. A sensor that reads the position of the hand in space and a transmitting device for communicating with the robot at a distance are located on the arm that controls the robot.
At the exhibition, the Omron robot was presented, designed to perform transport work, which was shown in complex work with a robotic arm.
Traditionally, the exhibition featured various types of unmanned aerial vehicles.
One of the permanent participants of the exhibition is the "Horizont" holding, which presented various solutions in the field of industrial technology and electronics at the exhibition. Visitors to the exhibition could get acquainted with various types of information systems, dashboards and other devices developed by the holding.
A new solution for the belarusian user in the field of mail delivery was shown by JSC "Promsvyaz", which presented at the exhibition "Pochtomat" - an automated postal device designed for issuing, receiving and storing postal items with the ability to collect payments in cash or using bank payment cards.
Within the framework of the exhibition, modern means and tools of medical diagnostics were presented, allowing the output of information about the condition of patients from devices to various types of media, from paper to electronic.
Together with the informational part, a cultural and entertainment program was organized at the exhibition.
Within the framework of the exhibition, the final of the competition for start-up projects "Belarus ICT Start-up Award 2021" was held, where we took part with the project "Open cloud platform for dispatching joint work by a fleet of mobile robots".
An open cloud platform is a set of tools that allows you to remotely launch, use and control mobile robots without the cost of purchasing server technology. In turn, dispatching with the use of modern means of information processing and transmission makes it possible to implement a well-coordinated and interconnected execution of joint work by a fleet (group) of mobile robots.
The open cloud platform described above contains the following functionality:- scheduling of robotic machines by cloud software technology;
- the service of the access of the robot machine, which is purchased by the owner, to the access center with the services of the robotic machines;
- service for the modernization of the purchased vehicles to adapt to the capabilities of the robot car;
- services and subscriptions for software updates for robotic machines by analogy with an application store for smartphones.
Analysis of current trends in the field of robotic machines shows that at the moment the market for robotic machines and services for them is just emerging. In the future, it is expected to grow rapidly, the same as that observed in the smartphone market, thanks to the advent of affordable robotic machines. If in the period from 2000 to 2010 the use of industrial robots, according to world statistics, remained approximately at the same level, slightly fluctuating in one direction or the other, then since 2010 there has been a steady growth trend in their use. It should be noted that for the use of robotization, vehicles require significant modernization and retrofitting, however, a wide range of applications is possible: in civil, military and special areas.
The project presented by us was highly appreciated by the organizers of the competition and became one of the finalists.
